This year I have so much to be thankful for. For almost 6 years I have spent Thanksgiving either in another state or last minute flying into see my family for the holidays. While I am always thankful for a plane ticket to see the ones I love, there is something so magical about getting to spend the ENTIRE holiday season together.
It is not a lie that distance makes the heart grow fonder because I know that all too well. It’s often sad to me that as long as I live, because of distance, I will forever be missing someone I love. Today I am reminded of how my dad says, “It’s good to want because it means you don’t have everything”. I think it is good to miss and want for others (whether it be your loved one going on a weekend trip or your best friend being away for 6 months) because it teaches us how valuable they are when we have them close to us.
I am thankful today that I have loved ones all over the USA! I am thankful for each and everyone of these individuals for teaching me what being thankful really means. I am thankful for friends that have been family to me on the holidays I couldn’t be with my family. I am thankful for technology and that I can share and participate in the lives of family and friends that are thousands of miles away from me today. I am thankful for beautiful reunions of happy tears when I see the people I have missed so much because it gives me always something to look forward to.
I am thankful to God for all the lovely people in my life. I am thankful today and everyday that because of them I am taught daily what it means to really love.
