This Wednesday was my 26th birthday. So naturally, I celebrate like any normal 26 year old would by going to a Selena Gomez concert! One of my besties, Alex, got us meet and greet tickets saw we got to see Selena before the show. The day was so fun. I went to Alex’s house before and she did my makeup (she used to work at Sephora and is a makeup guru). We then went to the venue, and of course while we waited we snapped pics of our outfits. While waiting in line to meet her, you could kind of see through the black sheet that was hung to create the room she was standing in. We saw a guy that made her an entire album and was crying, he was so excited to meet her. She took so much time with him and flipped through the entire album. When it was our turn to go in she smiled so big as she saw us. She said “you are so cute, I love your outfit”. She was very soft spoken and calm. She put off this vibe that was comfortable, it made you feel like you have just known her forever. Alex told her it was my birthday and she told me “happy birthday” and we started to take pictures. We got a group photo and separate pictures each. I asked her if we could take a ‘sassy’ picture and she said, “Yes, I love when people give me something to work with”. We hugged again and as I was exiting she said “Happy birthday, I hope you have a really great day”. She is such a genuine person and you could tell she really meant it.
After we met, we made our way to our seats to wait for the show to start. The first band to come on was Bahari. I didn’t know but they sing the song “Wild Ones”. I am actually listening to them as I write this. They have a super boho, chill, beachy vibe. After them was DNCE. Can we just talk about how I was the ULTIMATE Jonas Brothers fan girl in high school?!! I had the biggest crush on Joe. I saw the Jonas Brothers on their Burning Up tour and sat front row. Girls, including me, FREAKED OUT over them. All I wanted was for Joe to touch my hand. They didn’t bend down for anyone in the crowd. Honestly, probably scared for their life someone would drag them down. (Fans aren’t as fanatical about him anymore) So it was very interesting to see people not freak out like that over him. He reached out to fans and even went into the crowd and sang.
After that Selena came on. She killed it! She had the best outfits and had so much attitude and sass. I loved it! She had a set, which was more chill and sang her slower songs. She played a worship song on the piano which was Transfiguration by Hillsong (which she said got her through hard times) and then lead into her song Nobody. Hearing those songs lined up like that gave Nobody a whole new meaning in my opinion. I always thought it was about a boy but the lyrics “nobody is going to love me like you” I could tell was about Jesus. I love that she is a believer and shares that. She put on a great show and you could tell she is thankful for how far she has made it in music.
Overall, it was such an unforgettable and fun night! I had a great time and I am so thankful I got to experience it. I hope all you lovelys have a safe and fun weekend.
